I started in the grocery business at the age of fifteen, and wouldn’t have imagined that I would one day own the very store that I worked in as a youth. For nine years I worked across South Louisiana for a large grocery chain while working my way through college at Nicholls State University. After completing college, I was headed into my family’s air conditioning business Daigle’s Heating & Air…instead, I approached the owner of the store where I once worked in my hometown, and asked to buy it. Four months later on February 1st, 2006, I opened Daigle’s Market, a family owned and operated grocery store right here in White Castle, Louisiana with the support of my family. My Great-Grandmother Willie McAuley; my mom, Toni McAuley Daigle; and my uncle John McAuley were instrumental in the support of opening Daigle’s Market to give White Castle the customer-friendly oriented store that we deserve.
I knew this is what I was supposed to do. A neighborhood market is the heart of the community. It is the place where you run into family and friends, and I couldn’t imagine that ever going away. So from my family to yours…welcome!
